The Role, and What You'll Be Doing

As the Founding Fractional Community Manager, you’ll lead the charge in building our community from the ground up, shaping the global strategy that connects, inspires, and supports both sides of our marketplace. This role is central to Shepherd’s vision and brand, giving you full autonomy to select the right platforms, tools, and cadence to engage our members. From fireside chats and online events to in-person meetups, you’ll cultivate an active and supportive network for startup founders and fractional talent alike.


Key Responsibilities

  • Global Community Strategy
    • Create and execute a comprehensive global community strategy that supports both startup founders and fractional talent.
    • Build the community framework, including selecting platforms, tools, and technologies to foster engagement and collaboration.
    • Establish a cadence for community-driven events, such as fireside chats, Q&A sessions, in-person gatherings, and online forums.
  • Platform Development and Management
    • Lead the selection and implementation of community platforms (e.g., Slack, forums, virtual event tools) to create a seamless, engaging experience.
    • Oversee the setup and ongoing management of these platforms to ensure smooth interactions and robust engagement across channels.
  • Community Engagement and Events
    • Develop and run fireside events, workshops, and virtual sessions that bring together members to discuss relevant topics, share experiences, and inspire collaboration.
    • Organise and facilitate both online and in-person meetups to deepen relationships and encourage meaningful connections.
  • Relationship Building
    • Actively engage with members to build trust and gather insights into their needs, helping to continuously refine the community experience.
    • Identify and nurture ambassadors and influencers within the community to drive organic growth and maintain a vibrant culture.
  • Content and Communication
    • Develop and distribute valuable content (newsletters, blog posts, success stories) that resonates with and supports both founders and talent.
    • Partner with marketing to highlight community achievements, share learnings, and showcase the impact of fractional work.
  • Data-Driven Improvement
    • Track community metrics and feedback to adapt and enhance the community experience.
    • Provide actionable insights and suggestions to the product, marketing, and leadership teams.
